In deepest rural Ireland, on the edge of a lake in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim, is home of The Shed Distillery and PJ Rigney. PJ created The Shed Distillery with its medieval copper pot stills and began a quest to fuse oriental botanicals with the local Irish ones. As it turned out, they got on very well indeed. Micro-distilled in small batch copper-pot stills, Empress 1908 is hand-crafted using eight signature botanicals: tea, juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, cinnamon bark, and butterfly pea blossom. It's the pea blossom, which we discovered in one of the Empress tea blends, that imbues the gin with a distinctive earthy note. The distinct flavour and colour of Empress 1908 comes from the infusion of tea botanicals. No artificial colours or stabilisers are used in its creation - so while the flavour will last forever, its unique indigo hue will not. It is with great pride that Asahikawa distillery made this unique gin on the Northern island of Hokkaido in Japan. The main botanicals - green bitter orange peel, coriander, licorice and angelica root - macerate for more than 24h in neutral cane spirit distilled thanks to a copper still with a swan neck to 83% vol. It is then diluted down to 43% vol with water sourced from the Taisetsu Mountains and filtered through charcoal for optimal purity.

Saffron Gin is the result of an alliance between Great Britain for its London Dry Gin, India for its spice used extensively in cooking and in religious ceremonies, and French know-how developed by Gabriel Boudier. This original product with exotic notes is manufactured entirely at Dijon and is used in numerous cocktails, the most famous being Saffron gin and tonic.
