Distilled from Scottish barley in 2013, Octomore 10.1 is the benchmark of the 10s series. Deliberately stripped back to an ex- American oak maturation, aged just 5 years old, the .1 edition exposes the structure and presence of the Octomore spirit. Combining smoke with a modest maturation, this 10.1 first and foremost demonstrates the true potential of a considered, patient distillation.

Cardhu, the Queen of Speyside malts, has a generous spirit that is as well matched to that of hard-working founder, Helen Cumming, as it is to that of the busy bees that pollinate the hillside heather through the long days of summer. Clean, elegant and perfectly poised, this Cardhu was made in small batches and matured in refill casks, as well as new and ex-bourbon American oak, drawing out tones of floral sweetness and spicy intensity in a playful exchange between wood and whisky. Notes of fresh orchard pear, green apple, grape and pineapple join a trace of lemon peel on the nose, with a gentle mossy base. The texture is creamy- smooth, the taste sweet then juicy, with a buttery richness. Of a good length, the finish is spicy, with lingering warmth.

In the Cardhu 14 YO this golden malt, white grape and lychee aromas frolic with melodious fruits and meadow flowers. Composed in wine seasoned wood, it has a heather honeyed sweetness. Fragrantly, it charms with a creamy smooth texture and perfumed taste, enriched by lush red berries. Smoother sill with water, the finish carries a warming pinch of white pepper.
